Credit Clerk

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
Responsible for performing various duties including processing orders, maintenance on existing accounts, processing shipping order requests, and processing orders through CIT, and processing a multi-line telephone system.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Issues and logs credit memoranda for all branches and CIT/GECC charge-backs.
Processes credit and debit memoranda.
Distributes debit memoranda through appropriate channels.
Sends CIT/GECC invoice copy per factory’s request.
Logs notes for CIT/GECC credit withdrawal.
Files and maintains credit memoranda.
Verifies and offsets open invoices for all branches.
Prepares and mails accounts receivable monthly statements and answers related debit questions for all branches and special accounts.
Processes and refunds NFS check for all branches.
Logs and forwards CIT/GECC and Transamerica invoices.
Applies payment for debit memoranda collection in the system and house account; makes adjustments as necessary.
Submits and contacts collection agency for uncollected checks and invoices.
Researches and collects debits for special accounts.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Perform similar and incidental duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma with college level accounting courses preferred.
Experience: Minimum of six (6) months related experience or training.
Knowledge: Requires thorough knowledge of arithmetic skills, PC data processing, computer knowledge, finance, accounting, payroll, systems and procedures; telephone skills and training; ability to get along well with others, accept constructive criticism and be a team player.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral, written and presentation communications.
Math Skills: Overall skills and knowledge of general mathematical and accounting principles and practices.
Other Skills: Time management skills to effectively schedule and meet company demands.
Other Abilities:  Ability to handle multiple priorities.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Credit and Collections Manager

MAJOR BUSINESS/PROFESSIONAL CONTACTS
Frequent contact with management, all departments, branches, employees, vendors and customers.

WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Normal working environment involving minimum discomforts or hazardous conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sits most of the time; stands or walks occasionally.
