Vegas show exceeds all expectations and sets a new Coaster record

(Las Vegas) So just how good was the Winter 2009 Las Vegas Market? Well, let’s just say Coaster hit the jackpot. Not only was the show better than everyone expected, but sales at the show set a new record at Coaster. This year’s market kicked off on February 9 and was the first major home furnishings market of the year.

While other trade shows and markets are seeing significant dips in attendance, Vegas market traffic beat all expectations, and was only down 4% from the July market.
“Rather than be discouraged by talk of the economic slowdown, tens of thousands of buyers, exhibitors and designers were drawn to Las Vegas Market to take advantage of the opportunity to develop new and lucrative relationships that will help fortify their business during this challenging time,” said Bob Maricich, president and CEO of the WMC.

Coaster Director of Product Management Bruce Huggins was excited to see Coaster’s showroom jam packed. Going into market, sales representatives heard that a number of retailers were planning to skip this winter’s show. As it turned out, the major retailers were on the scene. Furthermore, buzz around the market claimed that retail sales have also picked up in recent weeks, and maybe the furniture industry is already on the rebound. That’s good news for anyone feeling a pinch from the recession.

In other news, the Las Vegas Market has pushed back the dates for its second 2009 show until September, and will shorten the market to a four-day event.

Market dates for 2010 and 2011 are:
Feb. 1-4, 2010
Sept. 13-16, 2010
Feb. 14-17, 2011
Sept. 12-15, 2011
