Coaster Employees help make a difference

(Los Angeles) The holiday season is a time for celebrating and rejoicing over all the joys in our lives. As we count our blessings during the holiday season, it is also important to remember those less fortunate than us. This year once again, Coaster partnered with the Salvation Army to help spread holiday cheer and joy.

Coaster employees were given the opportunity to make a difference by participating in the Salvation Army’s Angel Giving Tree program by decorating the corporate Christmas tree with ornaments that represent donations to the Salvation Army. The donations were then used to provide Christmas dinners, clothing and toys for families in need. For those less fortunate the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program saved Christmas this year.

Along with the familiar Red Kettles, the Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army's highest profile Christmas efforts and was created by The Salvation Army in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked in Lynchburg, Virginia. The program got its name because the Whites identified the wishes of local children by writing their gift needs on Hallmark greeting cards that featured pictures of angels. Thanks to the Whites, more than 700 children had a brighter Christmas that first year.

Today, almost thirty years later, thousands of children across the United States will have a better Christmas. The Salvation Army reports that this year the number of first-timers has dramatically increased. Those receiving donations have said their families have fallen on hard times in recent months, and that they were grateful to the Salvation Army for its efforts to make Christmas brighter this season for those less fortunate like themselves.

In addition to monetary donations, Coaster also provided employees with two additional ways to help those in need; Collecting clothing and toys (new or used) for the Salvation Army and non perishable food items to donate to a local food bank. Thank you to everyone who participated.
