High Point Market
October 20-24, 2008
Despite a slowing economy and a tight presidential election, the High Point Market’s Fall 2008 show got off to a better-than-expected start. Exhibitors who had braced themselves for the worst exhaled a sigh of relief when most of the Top 100 retailers not only showed up, but also shopped around.
The annual show kicked off on October 20th and continued through the end of the week. Highlights of the Market included more than 70 international buying organizations representing 41 countries - and some 300 buyers attending the market for the first time.
Hoping to help retailers wake up sleeping businesses, a number of large exhibitors including Coaster, introduced dozens of new items that had people buzzing throughout the week. Two of the top 100 retailers visited Coaster for the first time and were impressed by the quality and value Coaster had to offer.
The market also continued the recent trend of becoming more and more of a regional show as many West Coast dealers decided to wait until the next market in Las Vegas this coming February. With the dates of the two different shows moving closer and closer to each other every year the trend is expected to continue. The High Point Spring Market returns in April.
